About Dr. George Geysen

Dr. Geysen earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Cum Laude, in 1994 from Central Connecticut State University and a Master's Degree in Clinical Practice from the University of Hartford in 1996. He was awarded a Doctor of Psychology Degree (Psy.D.) from the University of Hartford in 2001. While in graduate school, Dr. Geysen was selected to be a Legislative Advocacy Fellow with the Connecticut Psychological Association. His doctoral dissertation investigated the role of adult attachment style and social responsibility as coping factors with burnout in human service work. Dr. Geysen has been licensed as a psychologist in Connecticut since 2002.
In clinical training, Dr. Geysen worked with children and families in school and guidance clinic settings and completed pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training in community mental health and health care consultation. In 2002, he began private practice, providing treatment and evaluation to adults, children and families, for Public Defender Services and Social Security Disability. Dr. Geysen was a clinical psychologist at Whiting Forensic Institute in Middletown until 2006, when he began private practice of clinical and forensic psychological consultation. In 2011, Dr. Geysen began work as a consulting psychologist to Concentra, Inc., providing a range of occupational health related services.

Dr. Geysen is routinely sought for expert forensic consultation in criminal and civil matters. He performs assessments of violence risk, mental status at the time of the offense, competency and mitigation as well as psychological evaluations in personal injury, fitness for duty, pre-employment and related civil contexts. Since 2011, Dr. Geysen has provided psychological evaluations to the Connecticut State Police and is sought out in variety of contexts by private attorneys. Dr. Geysen is a member of the American and Connecticut Psychological Associations, the National Register of Health Service Psychologists and a Board member of the Connecticut Association for the Treatment of Sexual Offenses (CATSO). Dr. Geysen is a life long resident of the state of Connecticut.
